Cameo Party Designs Blog

Why the name “Cameo” Party Designs?

In Memory of Cameron Mitchell Roberts  {Born Unto Earth ~ Entered Into Heaven,  November 1st, 2009}

“Cameo”:  In 2009 we lost someone very very precious to us…  Our son, Cameron Mitchell Roberts.

Cameron was full term, and Halloween night, the weekend before they were going to induce labor, he got wrapped in his umbilical chord.  By the time that we made it to the hospital it was just too late.  Cameron was a very beautiful lil’ man and is in our hearts, thoughts and prayers always.

My nickname for Cameron is “Cam”… which immediately made me think of “Cameo”.   Cam played his own version of a “cameo role” in our lives, here and gone so quickly. I truly believe, Cameron is now our own personal shining star and lil’ angel watching over us.

…and the meaning doesn’t stop there

Another reason that I chose this name is: if you break down the letters of “Cameo” you get the initials of all of my children’s names:

C: Cameron
A: Abigale
M: Madison
E: Elizabeth
O: Lots of Hugs (XOs) and of course kisses!

The third and final reason is that using an object like a Cameo lended itself to the more elegant look I was wanting!

So you see, the name “Cameo” just had to be, on so many levels.  The name means so very much to me.  I am proud, and hope I make my children proud daily, that the job that I do helps to bring smiles on the faces of children & others all over the world.  Getting to be a part of their special day, holiday or event, is very heart warming.  Even with the pain always in my heart, Cameo Party Designs and the meaning behind it, makes me smile on a daily basis.

Personalized Bug Party DIY Iron On Design

The Versatility of a DIY Printable Party Iron On Design

Client Photos courtesy of Andrea from Ohio.  Thank you!

Andrea originally ordered the personalized iron on design from my shop, Cameo Party Designs, to make her grandson a t-shirt (personalized with name and age).  With an unbelievable imagination, Andrea also uses pillow cases and makes the cutest gift bags out of them, but she didn’t let her imagination stop there.

I remember getting those early morning emails on this one, as her creative juices started flowing overnight and she couldn’t sleep.  Andrea came back and ordered smaller versions of the same design… then she came back and ordered even smaller designs than that.  With a variety of sizes of the design, she began printing them onto a variety of papers from iron on transfer paper to card stock.  Andrea used this iron on design to make:  a t-shirt, mason jar favor tags, a party sign, a coordinating blanket and a gift bag made from a pillow case.

The best part of a DIY printable party design is that the designs are an instant download or sent via email.  They work pretty much like a digital photo.  You always have it and can make as many copies as you like, onto anything that you like!  You can print onto card stock, photo paper, regular printer paper, iron on transfer paper, full sheet label paper and more.

Tissue Paper Flowers

Maggie May's

My favorite plants are those that you don’t have to water. So rather than fill my house with cacti, I thought I’d play around with these paper flowers.

Tissue Paper Flowers

They are really easy and cheap to make and would also make great party or wedding decorations. Or just a way to decorate a bedroom.

Tissue Paper Flowers

All you need is tissue paper, scissors, and a stapler or piece of string.

Stack about six sheets of tissue paper.

Then begin folding the tissue paper in one inch segments.

After one fold, flip the papers over and do the same fold on the other side.

The point is to make an accordion. Make sure you flip after each fold.

Once it is all folded, it will look like this…

Try to slide it under a stapler to staple it right in the middle. If you can’t get it lined up so the staple is straight, you…

Sweets for Our Sweet

Over the weekend, we stood witness as dear friends Empol and Ca dedicated their daughter Annika Cailey to the Lord in a ceremony attended by close family and friends. The details were girly and sweet—a perfect reflection of darling little Annika.

My favorite details? The cups filled with wafer sticks, marshmallows, and chocolate coins to munch on, and the caramel cake from Estrel’s that was not only lovely but divinely delicious as well.

Welcome to the Christian world, Annika! We love you!

What is a DIY Printable Party?

Most of us know that DIY is the acronym for “Do It Yourself”… but, what is a DIY Printable Party?

DIY printables are a generic, personalized or customized party design that is obtained by the customer in a pdf or jpeg file, via instant download or through email, and are ready to print, cut out and assemble at home.  These designs can include anything that you can dream up for a beautifully coordinated party.  Examples of some great DIY printable party decorations are:  cupcake wrappers, cupcake toppers, party banners, party signs, invitations, 2 liter bottle labels, water bottle label, candy bar wrappers, favor tags, food tents, table signs, iron on transfers… and the list could go on and on!

DIY printable parties are a great way to personalize your party / event with names, age, wishes, etc.  Some great examples of personalization could include a banner that says, “Happy 3rd Birthday Gus”, “Welcome Baby Sheldon”, “Welcome Home Todd”, “Roberts’ 50th Anniversary”… so on and so forth.  In most cases, you can personalize just about any printable party design as long as the designer offers personalization.

In a nut shell, a DIY Printable is only limited to your imagination.  If you can stick a label on it… if you can wrap it… if you can hang it… if you can wash it…  You can have a DIY printable designed to match your party / event / occasion!

Note:  Always keep in mind what you are asking of the designer.  In some cases, if the design you are wanting would violate a copyright / trademark law, the designer may have to find alternatives around your theme, to make the design match but not using any of the images.  This would be images such as cartoon characters, names, titles, phrases, etc.  ie: Disney characters, Sports team names / logos, etc.
